The Organs of the Strahov Monastery

The Organs of the Strahov Monastery
The project to restore the organs of the Strahov Monastery is a project that aims to make the history and presence of these outstanding instruments better known to the public. Both organs are in the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary at Strahov, and donations are solicited for their restoration. Our work on the project includes designing a logo, website design, and printed materials to support the collection. The basis of the design starts with the instruments themselves, which in both cases are decorated with late Baroque carvings, where we can find many carved cherubs, which was the inspiration for the logo. The logo becomes a romantic emblem where the abstracted symbol of an organ, the typeface, and the simplified cherub motif meet. We added a distinctive purple color to the hues of the Strahov Monastery’s identity. The result is a contemporary, colorful pictorial–an almost literal–drawing of the brand without intense stylization. And we loved it!
